CabFestNV Debuts with Success, Attracting 2,000 Participants to
the Napa Valley’s first Cabernet Sauvignon Festival
to Enjoy World-Class Wine, Food and Entertainment to Benefit the Arts
(Yountville, CA) – CabFestNV, the inaugural three-day non-profit festival created to benefit arts education through the celebration of Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon wines, launched with astounding success at the Napa Valley Performing Arts Center at Lincoln Theater, this past weekend February 28 – March 2. Many of the biggest names in wine country, along with Academy Award-winner, singer and songwriter Jeff Bridges, drew 2,000 attendees from across the country and beyond. Participants experienced wine from more than 100 participating Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon-producing wineries, signature wine country cuisine and live entertainment from Jeff Bridges and the Abiders, as well as the local band The Silverado Pickups who performed with surprise special guest, Grammy nominee and Country Music Association Award-winning artist James Otto.
Early tallies from CabFestNV organizers indicate that most of the 2,000 attendees were visiting from afar, nearly 70% were from outside Napa Valley, including guests from 17 states other than California, along with a segment of international visitors. The balance was from inside the state of California, with most from outside Napa County (as far north as Eureka and south as San Diego).
“When we planned CabFestNV we knew that we would create an approachable, fun-yet-classy event that would benefit wine consumers, wineries and our performing arts education programs,” said Michael Madden, Executive Director of the Napa Valley Performing Arts Center at Lincoln Theater. “The result was nothing short of fantastic! I feel that we truly hit a home run, and believe that CabFestNV will become one of the most significant and regularly anticipated wine events in the country. The feedback from participating wineries and attendees was overwhelmingly positive. It was an exciting, and gratifying, weekend.”
The Friday, February 28 CabFestNV Kickoff Concert with Jeff Bridges and his country-rock band, The Abiders, began with Bridge’s daughter Jessie Bridges as the show opener. Immediately afterward, the hottest ticket of the weekend admitted VIP level ticket holders to the intimate and exclusive, sold out “Cigars & Guitars” afterparty that resulted in an impromptu series of short duets by Jeff Bridges and his daughter who played a second set for the VIPs. Party goers stopped Jeff Bridges to snap photos as he made his way through the crowd to Cigar Aficionado Magazine’s cigar-sampling tent.
The Grand Foyer of the Napa Valley Performing Arts Center at Lincoln Theater was transformed into an elegant, high-end festival site for the Saturday and Sunday Grand Tastings that were filled with hundreds of wines from 100 wineries, and wine celebrity-led panels and seminars with “The Wine Bible” author Karen MacNeil; Bob Bath, Master Sommelier and wine Instructor at The Culinary Institute of America; vintner and water witch Marc Mondavi; wine auctioneer and vintner Fritz Hatton; renowned grapegrower Andy Beckstoffer; and noted winemakers and vintners including Heidi Peterson Barrett, Celia Welch, Martha McClellan, Amy Aiken, Sara Fowler, Dawnine Dyer, Cyril Chappellet, Michael Beaulac, Aaron Pott, Philippe Bascaules, Paula Kornell and Blake Gilbert.
